Analyzing Gaze Behavior in Complex (Aerial) Skills
نویسندگان
چکیده
Complex skills with aerial phases, such as somersaults or release-regrasp skills make up about 45 % of all elements in artistic gymnastics. The underlying mechanics of these skills have been studied extensively, and visual information is thought to assist gymnasts in skill performance. However, empirical evidence on the role of gaze behavior and its interplay with movement behavior in complex skill performance in gymnastics is still limited and obvious gaps in the literature exist. Therefore, the aim of this study was the development of an eye-tracking prototype that allows for the measurement of gaze behavior during complex (aerial) skill performance. After presenting the structure and the analysis procedure of the system, two selected examples for the application of the system will be discussed.

Gaze Awareness in Collaborative Problem Solving: An Approach for Gaze Sensitive Interaction and Analysis
This paper presents an approach to utilize eye-tracking technology for interaction and analyzing to understand complex collaborative competencies that are subsumed under the term learning to learn together (L2L2). Our analysis uses automated computation of gaze measures, domain activities, and qualitative manual coding to find differences between certain gaze visualizations. We present our resu...
متن کاملQuiet Eye Changes under Environmental Constraints During Performance Target Launcher Skills
The ability to direct the gaze to optimal areas in the environmental context, at the appropriate time, is central to success in all sports. The aim of this study was to changes determine the elements of QE, during the run a reactivity launcher targeting skill, under different environmental demands. That was done to identify perceptual - cognitive effects performance-based infrastructure process...
متن کاملAtypical Gaze Behavior in Children with High Functioning Autism During an Active Balance Task
Background. Unusual gaze behavior in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) was reported very early in the literature. Objectives. The current study examined gaze behavior in children with ASD and typically developing (TD) children while performing an active balance task on the Wii balance board. Methods: 8 children (male) diagnosed with high-functioning ASD and 9 TD children (3 female, ...

Focus of Attention and Quiet Eye (QE) of the affecting variables on aiming task performance in recent decades have always been interesting for psychologist and sport science researchers. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of attention instructions on gaze behavior and accuracy of dart throwing of novice in low and high task load. In a semi-experimental design with re...
متن کاملMonocular and binocular vision in the performance of a complex skill.
The goal of this study was to investigate the role of binocular and monocular vision in 16 gymnasts as they perform a handspring on vault. In particular we reasoned, if binocular visual information is eliminated while experts and apprentices perform a handspring on vault, and their performance level changes or is maintained, then such information must or must not be necessary for their best per...
